boxes, ribbons & things

i received my very first paycheck for my new job yesterday. considering that i have the tendency to splurge when i am not in the best of moods, i swore to myself that i will not pass by any area near the malls or any commercial center on my way home. unfortunately, however, my younger sister called me up and asked if i could give her a ride home after work hours. i simply said okay, and eventually learned that i had to fetch her somewhere in greenbelt five.

emphasizing that i did not intend to park, or to eat, or to go shopping, i automatically told her that i will just pick her up in the mall driveway and then we will head home. thanks to the very heavy traffic, this perfect plan was ruined. after almost two hours on the road, i felt the need to use a comfort room. so, i had no choice but to park and look for a restroom inside the said mall. and as if the pandora's box were opened, i started wandering aimlessly inside the mall and discovered that all shops posted the evil word: sale. and to make matters worse, i could not seem to contact my sister so i had to keep on looking. thus, in less than an hour of roaming around, i was able to visit three (or so) shops and spend half of my salary on things that i did not intend on buying in the first place. when i finally found my sister (who was likewise under a trance & could not control herself from buying things), i told her we had to immediately escape the mall. when we got home, we both agreed that the place was cursed.
